Samsung Get Hands On Viv to Compete AI World

After the Apple’s Siri, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft’s Cortana and the latest Google’s own smart service named as Google Assistant, Samsung is also going to include similar AI to stand among the others. The AI acquired by Samsung is Viv is a smart assistant system co-founded by Dag Kittlaus, Chris Brigham, and Adam Cheyer — known for creating Apple’s Siri.

As per the sources, Viv will keep on operating independently but will provide its services to Samsung. Although Samsung already has its own voice assistant, S Voice, but it is a no competitor to what is offered by Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant. So, It appears that Samsung wants to leave no stone unturned to remain behind in the competition.

The USP of Viv which makes it different from other voice assistants is that it has been designed to function across applications and services. Samsung is known to follow proprietary systems, but recent acquisition indicates that the Samsung’s plan is not the same now. Apart from Viv, Samsung earlier acquired a mobile payment system called LoopPay and also acquired an open smart home platform called SmartThings.

Another interesting fact about Viv it is able to understand a user’s intent and is capable of writing its own code to do a task which it didn’t previously know how to perform.

The acquisition of Viv would help Samsung expand its products widely, and may need to think of stepping into the software. As Google is building its own software and devices, Samsung also has to compete by developing its own software and services.

It’s going to be interesting to see what technology evolve the next. With so much on cards, the world of mobile technology is truly cooking something delicious for the users.
